The Venue

Weddings at
Water’s Edge

Water’s Edge sits in Centereach, in central Suffolk County on Long Island. It is one of the newer wedding venues on Long Island, having opened in 2021, and it trades on exactly what the name suggests — water, light, and a setting that does not feel like a catering hall.

Newer venues tend to be built with daylight in mind, and that shows here. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the main ballroom, terrace access, and manicured gardens with a gazebo mean natural light is available for far more of the day than at an older room with small windows and a low ceiling.

George Pompilio photographs one wedding per day and personally leads every wedding. At a venue like this that means using the daylight while it lasts, then switching deliberately to off-camera flash so the room stays warm and dimensional once the windows go dark.

The Property

Where the pictures
happen.

The Summerwind Ballroom

The main room, holding up to three hundred guests, with an inlaid dance floor, a built-in bar, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Rooms like this photograph beautifully in daylight and need real lighting once the sun is down.

The Pondview & Willow Rooms

The Pondview Room holds up to a hundred and fifty, and the Willow Room opens onto an outdoor terrace — both useful for smaller weddings, ceremonies, and cocktail hour.

The Gardens & Gazebo

Manicured gardens with a gazebo for outdoor ceremonies, plus a back patio. A dedicated garden ceremony setting keeps the whole day on one property, which is time you get back.

The Bridal Suites

Two suites for getting ready on site. Prep rooms with real light and room to move make the first two hours of a gallery noticeably better than a cramped windowless space.

Good to Know

Water’s Edge photography
questions.

Do you photograph weddings at Water’s Edge in Centereach?

Yes. Water’s Edge is one of the Long Island venues George photographs, alongside weddings across Suffolk and Nassau counties, New Jersey, and the greater New York area. One wedding per day, always.

Where is Water’s Edge?

Centereach, New York, in central Suffolk County on Long Island — convenient to Smithtown, Stony Brook and the North Shore. See the Smithtown area guide for what is nearby.

What are the best photo locations at Water’s Edge?

The gardens and gazebo are the main outdoor setting, and the terrace off the Willow Room gives you an easy step outside without a walk. Sunken Meadow State Park and the North Shore beaches are a short drive north if you want open water in the gallery.

Is the ballroom good for natural light?

Yes — floor-to-ceiling windows in the Summerwind Ballroom mean daylight is usable for far longer than in an older room. The flip side is that once the sun sets those windows go black, so the evening needs deliberate lighting rather than the room's own fixtures.

How many hours of coverage does a Water’s Edge wedding need?

Ten to twelve hours. Because ceremony, portraits, and reception can all happen on one property, ten hours planned well often covers a full day here. See how many hours of coverage you need.

How far in advance should I book?

George books up to three years out and photographs one wedding per day, so peak Suffolk County Saturdays from May through October fill early.
