Lisa & David at
Estate at Florentine Gardens

A grand celebration in River Vale, where classic ballroom elegance meets manicured gardens and a night of dancing.

From the first quiet moments of getting ready to the last song of the night, Lisa and David’s day at the Estate at Florentine Gardens was elegant, emotional, and full of joy. This River Vale estate is built for photographs — sweeping staircases, chandelier-lit ballrooms, and manicured grounds that glow in the late-day light. Knowing the venue means being in the right place before each of those moments arrives, not chasing them after.

Their photographs run through the full visual language I bring to every wedding: documentary coverage for the real, unscripted moments, off-camera flash for the editorial portraits, and warm, creative frames that become art on the wall. You can read more about how a day like this comes together on The Approach.

Four acres, and none of them require a car

The Estate at Florentine Gardens is a Georgian-style mansion on four manicured acres in River Vale, family-owned and operated for over three decades. Winding brick pathways, fountains and a Romanesque stone gazebo sit outside; a grand ballroom renovated in 2020 with twenty-five-foot ceilings sits inside.

The practical consequence is that portraits never need a vehicle. Three genuinely different outdoor settings are a two-minute walk from the ballroom, which means a portrait block costs you thirty minutes rather than an hour and a half. That is the single biggest argument for an estate venue over a catering hall.

The night portrait is the reason to book late coverage

Florentine Gardens lights its grounds after dark, and the night portrait is the strongest single image the venue offers. It is also the one most often missed, because it only exists after full dark — which in June means well after 9pm.

If your coverage ends at ten, that portrait is competing with the last hour of your reception. Check the arithmetic before you book hours rather than discovering it on the night. And it is lit deliberately with off-camera flash rather than relying on the venue’s uplighting, which is the difference between a night portrait and a dark photograph.

Gardens, and when they work

The grounds carry the day from May through October. Outside that window the renovated ballroom does the work, and it does it well — twenty-five-foot ceilings and a recent refit photograph better than most. A winter wedding here is not a compromise, but it is a different gallery, weighted to interiors and evening light.

If you are planning here

The Florentine Gardens venue guide covers the property, and the River Vale area guide covers what is nearby — including the Palisades about twenty minutes east.
