Water’s Edge Wedding Photographer
Mill Pond views, floor-to-ceiling glass, and one wedding at a time in Centerport.
Weddings at
Water’s Edge
Water’s Edge sits at 445 East Main Street in Centerport, on Long Island’s North Shore in the Town of Huntington. Formerly the Thatched Cottage, it is now a newer, modern property in the Danfords Collection, looking out over Mill Pond.
The building is designed around the water. Floor-to-ceiling glass lines the indoor space, and ceremonies and cocktail hours can run indoors or out, so natural light is available for far more of the day than in an older room with small windows. The venue also hosts one wedding at a time.
George Pompilio photographs one wedding per day and personally leads every wedding. At a venue like this that means using the daylight while it lasts, then switching deliberately to off-camera flash so the room stays warm and dimensional once the windows go dark.
Where the pictures
happen.
The Waterfront & Mill Pond
Outdoor ceremonies with the water and Mill Pond behind you. Open sky and water give a portrait depth and catch the late light, which is the main reason to marry here.
The Glass-Walled Ballroom
Floor-to-ceiling windows and chandeliers, for receptions of up to about three hundred guests. Rooms like this photograph beautifully in daylight and need real lighting once the sun is down.
The Lobby & Staircase
A grand staircase in the lobby makes a natural setting for an entrance and for indoor portraits, and a rain plan that still photographs well.
One Wedding at a Time
Not a room, but it shapes every frame. Exclusive use means portraits can happen when the light is right, and the grounds stay clear in the background of your photographs.
Water’s Edge photography
questions.
Do you photograph weddings at Water’s Edge in Centerport?
Yes. Water’s Edge is one of the Long Island venues George photographs, alongside weddings across Suffolk and Nassau counties, New Jersey, and the greater New York area. One wedding per day, always.
Where is Water’s Edge?
445 East Main Street, Centerport, NY 11721, on the North Shore in Suffolk County within the Town of Huntington. It is a few minutes from Huntington and Northport villages — see the Huntington area guide.
Is Water’s Edge the old Thatched Cottage?
Yes, same address. Water’s Edge was formerly the Thatched Cottage, and the property is now a newer, modern venue in the Danfords Collection.
What are the best photo locations at Water’s Edge?
The waterfront and the Mill Pond views carry the outdoor portraits, and the glass-walled interiors and the lobby staircase give you strong indoor options for a rain plan. The Vanderbilt Museum grounds in Centerport are minutes away if you want an estate setting — confirm their photography terms first.
Is the ballroom good for natural light?
Yes — floor-to-ceiling glass means daylight is usable for far longer than in an older room. The flip side is that once the sun sets those windows go black, so the evening needs deliberate lighting rather than the room’s own fixtures.
How many hours of coverage does a Water’s Edge wedding need?
Ten to twelve hours. Because ceremony, portraits, and reception can all happen on one property, ten hours planned well often covers a full day here. See how many hours of coverage you need.
How far in advance should I book?
George books up to three years out and photographs one wedding per day, so peak North Shore Saturdays from May through October fill early.
